Learning Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
| • | Identify appropriate patients who are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, and apply current American Diabetes Association screening recommendations |
| • | Establish an appropriate, individualized treatment goal for glycemic control, and use effective clinician-patient communication to empower each patient to achieve that goal while minimizing long-term complications, avoiding short-term complications, such as hypoglycemia, and improving the patient’s quality of life |
| • | Select appropriate glucose-lowering agents based on the mechanisms of action, routes of administration, efficacy, and safety of currently available agents |
