You Are Invited to a CME Breakfast Symposium

Overactive bladder (OAB) affects approximately 33 million people in the United States, with symptoms affecting men and women equally and increasing with age. Comorbid conditions, including obesity, arthritis, and hypertension, are prevalent in patients with OAB.

OAB remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. Patient-clinician communication is vital in diagnosing and managing OAB. Patients frequently have to raise the issue of OAB with their clinician, and half of these patients usually wait more than a year to seek treatment. Current standards of treatment include behavioral modifications and antimuscarinic pharmacotherapy, either alone or in combination. Management has shifted toward individualized, symptom-based treatment due to a number of trials that have reported promising results. Because of this, it is more important than ever for clinicians to stay up-to-date on the latest data about OAB.

This symposium will consist of didactic lecture format, audience response, panel discussion, and question-and-answer session. Thought leaders will review the impact of OAB and current problems in OAB management and discuss diagnosis and treatment, including the essential role of clinician-patient communication in treatment success.
