Dr. Gold is a professor of pediatrics and microbiology in the Department of Pediatrics and director of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. In addition, Dr. Gold is chief of Gastroenterology Service at Egleston Children’s Hospital and medical director of the Gastrointestinal Diagnostics and Endoscopy Laboratory of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

He received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. He subsequently completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Gold has vigorously pursued his research interests in H. pylori–associated gastroduodenal disease, particularly as it pertains to the pediatric population. He is recognized as a national leader in the pursuit of critical questions regarding the epidemiology and pathobiology of acid-related diseases in children, in particular, gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Dr. Gold’s work has been highly published, and he has served as author or coauthor on approximately 100 articles in well-respected journals such as the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Pediatrics, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, American Journal of Medicine, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Current Gastroenterology Reports. He also has authored or coauthored more than a dozen book chapters.
